"original": "Some interesting ideas here, haven't had a chance to think them all through.\n\nI think re-framing \"invites\" as \"inbox\" probably makes sense.\n\nI do not think personal data that gets synchronized between devices and to app services (eg prefs, mutes) should get mixed in there though. I think this should be app-modality-specific and not directly related to opensocial.group.\n\nDecline invite probably makes sense, so that the group knows the status.\n\nI'm not sure about retaining invites if the inbox doesn't exist, feels a bit complex. Which repo would they get written to? who/when would do retries? Feels simpler to just have it fail, and apps can write some other record in their own space if they want to keep track.\n\nAttribution of who sent an invite: I kind of like this, but it can't be trusted in the simple case. Eg, anybody could create a group and send an invite claiming it was from Barack Obama. Also every tiny bit of data that can be sent is a surface that could be abused for harassment, scams, spam, etc.\n\nProbably worth letting invites time out though (\"valid for one week\").",
