"text": "Rise Against is one of my favorite bands of all time, but to be honest they missed the mark on this one.\n\nWikipedia says they changed their production team for this release, which honestly I believe because the mixing on the album is questionable. On their other albums the vocals punch up above the music; here the instruments are turned up super loud and the vocals are very quiet. There also seems to be some form of filter put over the vocals to give them this ghostly, ethereal quality.\n\nThe head track, \"Nod\", is a decent enough track that fits in well in the top third of the Rise Against catalog. But beyond that, none of the other tracks really stuck out to me.\nRise Against are well-known for their lyrics and themes, and while I've been told this album is about how interconnected people are nowadays, I wouldn't know unless I looked it up because the mixing is just so bad I can't hear the words.\n\nI am sure many of these tracks are bangers live, and considering Rise Against has basically sounded the same for the last 20 years I understand why they wanted to change things up a bit. But sadly this one is a miss for me, and a disappointing miss at that since I really was looking forward to this release.",
